A Blue Perspective: Support victims of the Victorian bushfires with Sitepoint

My home State of Victoria has suffered the worst bushfire disaster ever to strike Australia.

Over 180 people have been killed (with estimates of well over 200 expected) and 900 homes have been destroyed across 3,000 square kilometres. The devastation is beyond belief, but survivors and families of victims have to pick up the pieces of their lives and struggle through it.

Thankfully, it's at times like these that the best side of humanity shines through and support has come from every quarter in order to help those who have been affected.

Sitepoint has joined those supporters by setting up a unique way to donate: for the next 3 days they will be offering you the opportunity to buy any 5 of their PDF books for $29.95 and all proceeds will be donated to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

So, if you feel like helping thousands of people through this hard time, take advantage of Sitepoint's offer or even donate directly to the Red Cross.

I thought I'd provide a quick update. So far we’ve raised over USD $125K/ AUD $195K with plenty of time left to grab a bargain. For everyone that already has – from the bottom of my heart – thank you.

Long live the internet to get attention on what happened to the people of Victoria.
Let's hope the donations will provide some relief for them. USD $125k on donations thus far is a good start, an excellent start, and I applaud to you Shane for your initiative!

*Shayne of course. With such a good initiative your name should not be mis-spelled!
